Middle Ages Center Lizzie has developed a habit of bawling one’s name repeatedly until she gets a response. “Daddy. Daddy! Daaddy! DADDY! DADDY!” It’s a rapid-fire technique, and quite effective. She’s also started pointing at the mugs my aunt uses and crying out, “Coffee!”

We went to the Middle Ages center today. It seems to have been set up by a long-lost soul brother of Richard and Aaron. The entire setup reeks of the same mind-boggling obsessiveness and single-minded dedication to a purpose that they demonstrate toward things like website design, or getting tickets to Lord of the Rings Part III. So, the Middle Ages center is a replica of a small Danish town from 1397. It’s populated with people dressed in Middle Ages clothing, going about their Middle Ages business. Absolutely everything is put together with the most painstaking attention to detail, from the trebuchets set up by the seashore (mostly for fun, one suspects, because they couldn’t resist the challenge of building several varieties), to Emma Knightthe wicker bee-hives. We spent a hot but happily-absorbed couple of hours there, and then it was time to run Thomas to the train station. He’s going to Copenhagen to meet up with old friends.

After dropping Thomas off we headed back to Telse’s for an early dinner, which as always was excellent. After the tractor ride to water the horses we spent a little time getting to know the new foal. Emma was entranced and everyone (myself excepted) went up to pet and inspect the foal.
