I’ve definitely noticed that our pace has slowed down since Karen left. While we are doing less each day I feel more tired than ever. Lizzie has been having trouble getting to sleep she has been really fighting it screaming and wailing for mom. Anyway, today we are having dinner at Ida and Lars’s house so we can get to bed early because Emma and I are going to school with Silla tomorrow. So our day to day is going to be a little abbreviated, we picked up Knut and Nina and decided to head over to Nysted a little harbor town where there is a famous manor house Aalholm. Now the Danes use the same word for a manor house and a castle, in fact most in Europe don’t make a distinction, I how ever have been disappointed to many times. I find real castles, ones designed for defense, fascinating. Manor houses in on the other hand are interesting but ultimately no where near as exciting as castles. Regardless we had a wonderful time in Nysted we viewed Aaloholm from a distance and ate some great hotdogs.

For those who don’t know the Danish fast food establishment is dominated by small hotdog stands. There are different brands and the one we had today, ø-pølse fra Lolland, is manufactured locally and is definitely a cut above the ubiquitous Steff. The hotdog stand in Nysted is itself a cut above the average, offering hotdogs, ice cream, mini-golf, bike and boat rental. In general a great place and definitely some place to come back to next time.
The girls and I returned to Ida and Lars’s for dinner and playtime, Then to bed so we would be ready to get up early for school. Emma is so excited she can hardly stand it and then bounces to terrified, she decided that she wanted to sleep in Silla’s room and that was really sweet.
